Okay so here's the thing. August 8th is my author anniversary. It’ll be one whole year since I sent Promise out into the world, and I have been thinking about how I want to celebrate it. A ballroom felt wrong, big crowd felt even worse and sitting at home by myself was simply not going to happen.

I got to thinking…

You all ask me if Westonberry is real. You say you want to buy property there, that you need to visit, that you wish you could just crawl into my books and stay in Roena County. To be honest, I want you there too. It is a fictional place, but it is also not. So on Saturday August 8th I want to celebrate not just the book but the world I built, together.

So here is your invitation, and I mean that sincerely. I am inviting you to Westonberry.

Not the fictional version that exists in my books and on Substack. The real place that breathed life into it. We are gathering at a secret location in New Smyrna Beach, Florida, one that helped me step into Westonberry before I ever got it onto the page. If you have read Everyone Falls in Love, you have already met it. The Sugarbird Cottage in The Pipe Dream and The First Date was born from this very place where we will meet. I have always known it was special, and now you are going to get to feel that for yourself.

This is The Honeysuckle Supper Club, and it’s not a dinner party. Well, it is, but it is so much more than that. This is Jade Mitchell's supper club, the one she runs in Promise, brought to life for one evening with every bit of the warmth and intention she would demand of it. And as anyone in Roena County will tell you, Jade does not do anything halfway.

The Honeysuckle Supper Club is a full evening experience that lives in your memory long after you have driven home, changed out of your good dress, and climbed into bed still thinking about the conversation you had with the woman sitting across from you. It is an immersive step inside Roena County, a celebration, and a gathering of people who chose to show up for something intentional and beautiful together.

The evening will unfold over five courses inspired by Jade's kitchen, that beautiful meeting place where Southern comfort and Jamaican soul come together into something that feels both familiar and extraordinary. Every dish has been prepared by a chef whose hands have fed the most discerning tables at Michelin-rated restaurants, because when Jade Mitchell throws a supper club, she calls in the best. That has always been her way.

We are going to eat well. We are going to talk about Promise and all the books, about writing and homemaking, about the things this story was really about all along: starting over, stepping into new chapters, sitting with grief, and the long, tender work of learning to trust yourself and love again. All the things that start to matter when you get good people around a good table and finally give yourself permission to be honest.

You are going to make friends who already know the streets you love and the characters who live on them. And at some point in the evening, without anyone planning it, we will all just settle into the simple pleasure of being gathered together. Which has always been the whole point of Westonberry anyway.

There are only eleven seats, and I chose that number on purpose. Not for exclusivity, but because I want to actually know you. I want to learn your name and hear what brought you to these books and find out which character made you ugly cry or slam the book shut or start over from the very beginning. I don't just write about community. I build it in real life. And I want this evening to feel exactly like what it is: friends getting together for supper.

If you have been wanting to visit Westonberry, this is your open door. If you have ever wished you could sit at Jade's table, here is your chair. If you just want to spend a Saturday evening in August surrounded by people who understand why stories matter the way that they do, who are also absolutely driving past the firehouse looking for Akil, I would love for you to be there.

Come celebrate with me. I cannot think of better company.

Love, Jhéanell
